A stock exchange to transform the social impact of companies into shares, this is the proposal relaunched by Turin at the Leadership Meeting of the Global Steering Group for Impact Investment, a meeting between the members of the movement that works to promote social impact finance.
The proposed project is called Torino Social Stock Exchange and was born from the initiative of a series of promoters and from the experience of Torino Social impact with the aim of creating a real financial market segment.
The idea is to create a capital market dedicated to companies that intentionally, additionally and measurably achieve a positive social impact. Companies that leave positive elements on the territory, not only in terms of employment, could benefit from them to try to grow. In this new exchange, transactions would be based on both the financial value and the measured social impact value.
The simulation is underway and eight pilot companies are participating with simulated stock market prices. The first results will arrive in the autumn after an analysis carried out on the performance of companies and on the intersection of demand and supply of capital oriented to impact.
The next step will be to transform the experimentation into a reference model for a market segment to which companies will be able to be listed on the basis of criteria and impact measurement managed by third party and independent entities.
